In 1919, Tom and Carl Knudsen started their California creamery with one simple goal: make the best dairy products by using the freshest, most wholesome ingredients.


The brothers focused on high-quality products and strong relationships with their employees and dairy farmers. Under this philosophy, their new company took off.

The Knudsens built a strong company culture—hosting annual company picnics, honoring their longtime employees with anniversary gifts and promoting their best people to top management positions. They even printed a company magazine, “Skimmings.”


During the 1920s and ’30s, the brothers opened several new creameries and worked with dairy suppliers to modernize their farms. That way, every KNUDSEN product could be made with the finest grade milk.

These days, we continue our founders’ pledge to offer only “the very best.” All our products are made right here in sunny California, from real California milk. Our creameries are just miles from our dairy farms, so every product is fresh and flavorful when it reaches your store. And with all that farm-freshness, there’s no need to add any weird stuff.
